“Designing with biology requires a mental switch: understanding and adapting to biological constraints while leaving preconceived ideas about what is possible behind. This creates new opportunities to develop novel systemic interventions, whilst re-establishing a new symbiosis with nature.” – Natsai Audrey Chieza
Our founder Natsai Audrey Chieza spoke at Altagamma’s inaugural Next Design Perspectives symposium. Paola Antonelli moderated a discussion between Suzanne Lee, Koert van Mensvoort, Maurizio Montalti and Natsai that explored innovative design strategies in biofabrication and where they converge with and supersede industry metrics of high performance, scalability and craft.
Next Design Perspectives was hosted by Fondazione Altagamma, an organisation founded in 1992 that comprises of Italian cultural and creative companies that are recognised globally as authentic ambassadors of Italian style. The Altagamma members operate in multiple sectors including fashion, design, jewellery, food, hospitality, automotive, yachts and wellness. The mission for the annual event is to create a dialogue between legacy industries and innovative creative start-ups, ideas from which can seed new initiatives and help to future-proof the Italian luxury industry.
