Remember Nature: 140 Artists’ Ideas for Planet Earth
‘140 Artists’ Ideas for Planet Earth’ is the latest publication under the patronage of Serpentine Galleries, featuring urgent responses to the climate emergency from 140 leading creative minds, including scientists, designers, artists and filmmakers. Edited by the Serpentine Artistic Director, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Serpentine Assistant Curator, Kostas Stasinopoulos, and the team behind the Serpentine’s long-term Back to Earth project, the book features a series of recipes, drawings, essays, photographs, which communicate contributors’ visions and ideas for an ecologically-driven world.
Our CEO, Natsai Audrey Chieza, has been asked to contribute to the project with her poem “Living and Dyeing” – a recipe for multispecies relations, inspired by her first deliberate encounters with microbial life. Amongst other featured thinkers in the book are: Olafur Eliasson, Etel Adnan, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Jane Fonda & Swoon, Judy Chicago, Black Quantum Futurism Collective, Vivienne Westwood, Cauleen Smith, Marina Abramovic, Karrabing Film Collective, and many more.
Given the constraints of the disconnected pandemic world, we are truly inspired by such collective effort, giving way to coming together in a less literal, but more imaginative way. The power of togetherness and imagination once again proved to be a survival tool – to find strength and hope for better days.
The copies are available at the publisher’s website and the Serpentine Gallery in London.
