Microscopic Miracles Monumental Moments: TED2024 Workshop

This April we were invited to TED’s annual conference in Vancouver to deliver a workshop on design-led, biotech-enabled product innovation. TED2024: “The Brave and the Brilliant” marked TED’s 40th anniversary and focused on examining how humans can thrive in harmony with rapid technological advancements, emphasising collaboration with AI while reaffirming core values like creativity, courage, and wisdom. Featuring over 80 talks, performances, and workshops, TED2024 brought together global leaders, activists and dreamers from diverse fields, creating a platform for deep connections and transformative discussions.

Our bespoke “Microscopic Miracles Monumental Moments” Discovery Session, inspired by Faber Futures’ biodesign brand Normal Phenomena of Life’s biophilic philosophy, gathered attendants from across 30+ industry sectors, inviting everyone to form regenerative partnerships with living organisms mediated by impactful products and services. The team at Faber Futures designed a sensorial immersive session that explored the systemic linkages between the microscopic world and the large-scale environmental and cultural context in which biotechnology seeks to make interventions. The workshop modelled more networked, holistic approaches towards transitioning to inherently bio-centric systems.
